These photographs show two lesser-known U.S. Army communications sites in Germany: the Schwanberg Relay and Communications Station and the Breitsol Communications Station.

Both sites were part of the military communications network during the Cold War.

Schwanberg served as a radio relay station operated by U.S. Army signal units and helped maintain communications between military locations and units.

Breitsol, located on the Geiersberg in the Spessart, was another important relay site, supporting microwave and troposcatter communications around the clock.

The photographs document these unusual military sites and their equipment after the U.S. Army presence in the region had come to an end.

For former Soldiers, veterans and anyone interested in U.S. Army history in Germany, these are places that are rarely seen today.
