Hidden in the wooded area of Steinbachtal, the Primary Storage Point (PSP) was one of the lesser-known facilities of the former Wuerzburg Military Community. Unlike the familiar Army posts where soldiers lived and worked, this secured area supported military operations through storage, security, and readiness.

During the Cold War, the facility was used for the storage of conventional ammunition and was later expanded to support the 8-43 Air Defense Artillery Battalion with a Central Missile Storage Area for Patriot systems.

After the end of the Cold War and the reduction of U.S. forces in Germany, the Steinbachtal PSP was no longer used by the U.S. Army in the mid-1990s. The former military area remained hidden in the forests near Wuerzburg.

When these photographs were taken in 2007, many years had already passed since the end of its military mission. The images document a rarely seen Cold War facility, where storage buildings and security structures still reflected its former purpose as part of the U.S. Army logistics network.
