Hospital Würzburg - shortly after closing
The 33rd Field Hospital was running the Würzburg Army Hospital — a full-time, brick-and-mortar setup with about 350 beds, covering the whole Würzburg MSA. That place took care of pretty much everybody in the area: 3rd ID troops, the Northern Bavaria Support folks, and the DAC personnel whenever things went sideways.
They dropped Old Glory for the last time at Würzburg Army Hospital on 19 October 2007. A few months later, on 16 January 2008, the garrison handed the whole footprint over to the German real-estate agency, BImA.
These shots were taken the day after the flag came down — just some views of the hospital through the fence, after the place had basically gone cold and quiet.
