Hospital Würzburg - before rebuilding work begin
The 33rd Field Hospital operated the Würzburg Army Hospital – a fully-fledged inpatient facility with approximately 350 beds that served virtually the entire Würzburg area of operations. Anyone wearing a uniform in the region ended up there sooner or later: soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division, support forces from Northern Bavaria, and even the Disaster Assistance Teams (DACs) when things got critical.
On October 19, 2007, the U.S. flag was raised for the last time at the Würzburg Army Hospital. A few months later, on January 16, 2008, the garrison handed over the entire site to the Federal Agency for Real Estate (BImA), and that was the end of its history.
These photos were taken shortly after the conversion of the building into condominiums began.
